Salma Hayek’s Husband Pledges $113 million to Rebuild Notre Dame After Fire

Salma Hayek’s husband François-Henri Pinault and his family have pledged to donate €100 million (approximately $113 million) to the rebuilding of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral after the devastating fire tore through the historic structure Tuesday.

“My father [François Pinault] and I have decided to release as of now from the funds of Artemis a sum of 100 million euros to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame,” François-Henri said in a statement, according to French journalist William Plummer.

François-Henri is the chairman and CEO of the international luxury group Kering, which owns brands like Gucci, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent. He also is the President of Groupe Artémis, which owns the fine arts auction house Christie’s.

Hayek has been married to the French billionaire since 2009 and the couple share daughter Valentina, 11. The actress is also stepmother to Pinault’s children Augustin, Mathile and François. The couple were married less than a mile from the cathedral.

“As many others I’m in deep shock and sadness to witness the beauty of Notre-Dame turn into smoke,” Hayek captioned a photo of the burning structure on Instagram. “I love you Paris.”

François-Henri wasn’t the only billionaire who plans on donating to the rebuilding of the famous church, which gets more than 12 million visitors each year.

Bernard Arnault, who is the head of French luxury group LVMH, also announced they have pledged to donate €200 million or $226 million.

“The Arnault family and the LVMH Group, in solidarity with this national tragedy, are committed to assist with the reconstruction of this extraordinary cathedral, symbol of France, its heritage and its unity,” a statement shared by the company on Instagram read.
